Since 1975, WWF-New Zealand has stood for a simple, powerful idea: that people and nature must thrive together.

Our story began as the world was waking up to the destruction of our planet and communities in Aotearoa were mobilising to save Lake Manapouri and stop the logging of our native forests.

People are, and have always been, at the centre of the World Wide Fund for Nature.  What began as an idea grew to a mass movement that challenged the belief that individuals couldn’t fund conservation or couldn’t make a difference.

Together it is possible.

Together, we’ve come a long way.

Over the last fifty years people like you have helped save whales and tigers and rainforests around the world.

Because of you, in Aotearoa we still have the hoiho, kākāpō, takahē, Chatham Island robin and other iconic species and habitats that would otherwise have disappeared.

The world has come together with ambitious plans - from the Paris Agreement to limit global warming, to the Global Biodiversity Framework to halt and reverse nature loss.

And Aotearoa New Zealand has set the bold goal of becoming Predator Free by 2050.

But the challenges we now face are unprecedented.

In Aotearoa New Zealand:

  • 94% of our reptile species are at risk;
  • 82% of our native bird species face extinction;
  • 22% of our marine mammal species and
  • 90% of our seabirds are on the brink.

Over half of our species are found nowhere else on Earth.  Once they are gone from here, we lose them forever.

More of the same is no longer enough. It is time for transformational change.

Be a catalyst for change

Your gift to the WWF Nature Forever Impact Fund is an investment in lasting, positive change for Aotearoa and the planet. It is an investment in urgent, unified action to tackle the biggest drivers of climate change and nature loss.

It’s an investment in an Aotearoa:

  • Cloaked in forests where kiwi, kākā and tuatara safely forage;
  • A coastline where thousands of migratory wading birds enjoy the Southern summer;
  • A healthy ocean where tohorā (whales), pakake (sea lions), toroa (albatrosses) and kororā (the world's smallest penguins) thrive.

Not just now, but for the future.

With your support, we can achieve ambitious goals like halting and reversing nature loss by 2030.

By investing in the WWF Nature Forever Fund, your gift will still be making a difference for people and for nature 50 years from now.

A legacy not just for nature, but for all of us.
