Adopt a giant panda this globally significant species and their habitat.

Cute, often comical and always charismatic, the giant panda is a conservation icon and the symbol of our organisation.

The giant panda’s habitat was once spread throughout China, northern Vietnam and northern Myanmar. The approximately 1,860 remaining wild pandas are now found in just six mountain ranges in south-central China and divided into 33 isolated sub-populations.

Threats

Despite conservation success in recent years, pandas are still at risk. The threats they face include:

Loss of Food Supplies

In some places, grazing livestock, harvesting bamboo and collecting medicinal herbs is still a threat to giant pandas.

Habitat Fragmentation

Roads and railways cutting through the forest, isolate panda populations and prevents them from breeding.

Climate Change

Pandas that live in isolated mountains are especially vulnerable to warming that will shrink and fragment their habitat further.
