New Zealand sea lions need protection now more than ever.

Classified as Nationally Vulnerable, their main breeding colonies, where almost all pups are born, are in steep decline. And like so many of our marine species, they are facing growing threats from ocean pollution, fisheries bycatch, overfishing and the impacts of climate change.

The Minister of Conservation says that saving all our native species would be “too expensive”.
The Minister of Oceans and Fisheries says we have “more important things to worry about” than protecting the New Zealand sea lion.

Make a donation now help stop the Government’s war on nature before the New Zealand sea lion becomes one of its casualties.

One of the best ways to protect marine species is by establishing safe havens for them.

Places where they don’t have to compete with humans. Where they are protected from harmful human activities. And where they get a chance to recover and raise their young safely.

We need to protect more of our ocean.

By making a donation you can help us advocate for the establishment of more Marine Protected Areas - the safe havens that species like the New Zealand sea lion so desperately need.

You can also sign the petition calling for 30% of the Ocean to be protected by 2030.
